Friday – From Kellie

My heart is so full with how Preston is handling this nightmare. He has grown in his character over the past month by leaps and bounds. He has really taken a roll in caring for his dad and helping to plan our future. He doesn’t leave the house as he’s worried he will not be here if something should happen. But today his BFF’s parents were able to convince him to come over for a few hours to play some neighborhood football while it’s so nice out. So thankful for them!

Today, my MR. was a machine! He sat in bed with his laptop and held 4 meetings! His hospice nurse said she will forever remember his face when someone tries to say they are too sick to come to work. She shared that she truly could not believe his will to live. That for his condition she would not expect him to be going the way he has. She said out of all her cases, she has never seen someone who has been able to hold onto their dignity and identity for as long as he has. I simply replied, “Now you know my husband.”

She shared that the next 24 hours will tell us a lot. That this burst of energy could be the rally before the storm, but she would not be surprised if he was still with us on Monday. Holler!

The minister that married us came for another visit today and did a beautiful prayer for an easy transition into the veil while she blessed his body. It was a peaceful, private and respectful ceremony (I guess you would call it).

Chris is getting more tired each day and sleeps longer and deeper. But so far each morning he wakes up with a smile and a “Good morning baby.” I’ll take that!

  1. Not surprised!! Preston and Chris are one in the same. So glad he had the will to finish up work, I know that was important to him. Take care. You are always on my mind in in my heart. ❤️

  2. I am so happy for you all that you are getting this precious time. The Memories are so Precious. Thinking of You all. Tell Chris, I wish I could hear some of his words of wisdom. He always had a unique perspective during conversations, on things that made you stop and think, “I never thought of it that way.” And I miss that Chris laugh. Good Job Preston for taking such good care of your Mom and Dad. You have always been a very mature kid and a Sweet boy. Thinking of all of you. Please tell Chris HI from us.

  3. Kellie,

  4. “Now you know my husband” sums it up perfectly. I can completely envision you saying that, and it made me giggle just a bit when I read it. So true. I would say that they broke ge mold when they made Chris, but he has instilled such strong values in Preston, that I am sure his legacy will live on through your son. Thanks for continuing to keep us posted. We will keep praying and keeping you all in our hearts. ❤️
