Today was a pretty tough day. Almost harder than when we first were told of this demon that entered our lives almost a year and a half ago. Today our oncologist gave us the heart-wrenching news that Chris’s lab work did not show any progress and his kidneys were starting to shut down. He said those words that no one wants to hear – it won’t be long.
Hospice will evaluate tomorrow when they come in and should be able to give us a better idea as to what this won’t be long means, as they have a better experience with this. Today was filled with so many ends getting wrapped up. It’s so overwhelming all the details that need to be addressed. But through it all hospice delivered a bed and walker for Chris to use. It’s the little things that help to make a difference.
I wish with all my heart and everything I have in me that I had better news to give. I will for sure make an update tomorrow when I have an idea from hospice as to what we are looking at on time. Thank you all so much for the well wishes. He has really enjoyed seeing them.
Kellie and Chris,
You both are an inspiration to me in how you are handling this. Chris, I have known you to always have a way to conquer problems, and tonight you showed me that you aren’t beaten regardless of the outcome. Every day is a gift.
We love you guys and we are here for you in whatever you need.
My heart aches for all of you. After tomorrow’s news we will set up another visit, if it’s okay. We love you all.
Chris, We are so happy you came into our Kellie’s life and showed her what unconditional love was really like. You take such great care of each other. We love you.
You have both been so strong threw all of this I’m do sorry you had to get that news 🙁
We are hurting for you and your family, Chris! And praying regularly for you all. It was a gift to have you as a neighbor for the 9 years when we lived on Chaparral. Thank you for your care for our neighborhood and the ways you jumped in and served our family so many times, even digging Kate’s car out of a snow bank! You are a man of strong convictions and relentless energy. You are an incredible husband and father. We love you!
